Blending indie-folk, pop, and soul, Essence Martins' ethereal vocals and poignant songwriting offer a powerful sense of self-expression and escapism. Her debut and sophomore EPs, 'Deer In The Headlights and Sleeping On It', have collectively amassed over 1.3M streams and earned strong editorial acclaim, with support from DORK, NYLON, Line of Best Fit, VIBE, and Clash, alongside notable co-signs from Demi Lovato, Jill Scott, Mahalia, Rachel Chinouriri, AURORA, and Dodie. At the start of her career, Essence was a member of Birdy's band, performing as a backing vocalist, guitarist, and keyboardist - an experience that helped shape her musicianship and stage presence. She has since supported artists including Mika, Rachel Chinouriri, Cat Burns, Connie Constance, Ruti and Ellie Goulding at their respective headline shows.
